Introduction

The National Abortion Federation (NAF) believes that your personal privacy and security is of paramount importance. Our Privacy Policy outlines the policies and procedures NAF uses for collecting, using, protecting, and disclosing Personal Information gathered on our website ( https://prochoice.org ). Please review the policy below so that you can make an informed choice about your privacy, and the extent you wish to interact with our website. This policy is updated periodically, and these changes are effective when they are posted on this page. To ensure your understanding of our policy, please review this page from time to time. By using this website you agree to this policy. If you do not accept any portion of the policy, you should not use this site.

Personal Information We Collect and How We Use It

Website Activity

Log Files: Upon visiting our website, our servers collect information about the computer or device you are using to access it. This includes your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser, and device type. We also collect information about your visit: the date and time you arrived at our site, how long you spent on the site and your clickstream data (the website, if any, which directed you to https://prochoice.org, which of our pages you visited, if you download any of our resources, and how you exited our website). If you just browse through our site, read pages, or download information, the above information is all that we collect. We use this information to formulate statistics (with the aid of Google Analytics) that show the number of visitors to the different sections of our site and help us make our site more useful to visitors. Google Analytic’s Privacy Policy can be found here: https://www.google.com/analytics/terms/us.html

Cookies: This website uses small files saved onto visitor’s computers, known as “cookies” so that you will be recognized as you move around the site. Unless you choose to use a “persistent cookie,” the information is captured only for the duration of your browser session through the use of a “session cookie.” For example, if you make a donation and then navigate through different pages of the website, the cookie will maintain the information you entered when you filled out the donation pages. As you move through the site, any fields requiring information about you that has already been captured will automatically appear. However, once you close your browser window, the session cookie times out. If you open a new browser window and return to our website, your personal information fields will not be filled automatically. In certain circumstances, you may be given the option to turn on a “persistent” or “permanent cookie” on your computer (e.g., “Would you like us to remember your password?” messages). A persistent cookie will remember your user name and password and will not time out at the end of your browser session.

Your Submitted Information

Webforms: If you provide your name, address, and email address on our site; purchase materials; or make an online donation we will have and retain a record of your information. If you do submit personal information to us, we will use that information only for the purposes for which it was submitted.

  • We use third-party vendors to provide services on this site and in our offline business operations. The information that you submit while donating, purchasing products, or opting in for communications from NAF is provided to those vendors on a confidential basis so that those vendors can provide services (such as maintaining our database, conducting fundraising campaigns, or processing credit card transactions) on our behalf.
  • If you sign up for NAF Act for Choice Alerts or make a donation and select “Yes, I would like to receive communications from NAF”, your information will be added to both the NAF Act for Choice Alerts list and our internal list of donors. You will receive informational updates and action alerts on reproductive rights issues, as well as donation opportunities. Act for Choice is an electronic network and therefore we need an email address to contact you. We also need your full postal address in order for our systems to match you to the correct state and federal districts, thereby ensuring that you are sending messages to the correct elected officials. If, at a later date, you opt out of receiving notices, a record of your account is kept with your “opt out” preference.
  • If you choose to make an online donation to NAF or to order materials online, you will have to provide your credit card billing information. As this information is collected and transferred over the internet to our secure server, it is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, the industry standard security technology designed to protect sensitive information. The credit card information you provide at the time of donation or purchase is stored only for the duration of the transaction. Your credit card information is used only to process the transaction and will not be used for any other purposes.
  • Privacy for Children: NAF does not knowingly allow users under the age of 13 to submit personal information on the website (for example, on our donation page).

Sharing Your Information

NAF will not sell, trade, or share information submitted on this website with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of non-NAF organizations or entities, other than as described in this Privacy Policy; as may be necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of our organization, our clients, or others; or as may be necessary to comply with applicable law. This policy applies to all information received by NAF, both online via our website and social media and offline including any electronic, written, or oral communications.

Security:

This site has physical, electronic, administrative, and managerial procedures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control.  Although this site has security measures in place, we do ask individuals to proceed cautiously when submitting information through our webforms. If you are worried because your communication is very sensitive, do not submit the information through our website. Please find other ways to contact NAF below.

How to Unsubscribe or Contact NAF About Your Information

If you wish to review the contact information we have on file for you, correct your contact information, provide a change of address, or inform us how you wish your contact information to be used, please contact our staff (see below).
