Trump Administration Pushes Gag Rule

[fusion_text]Statement of Vicki Saporta, President and CEO of the National Abortion Federation (NAF), on Domestic Gag Rule:

This rule is another attempt by the Trump-Pence Administration to deny women access to basic health care. It will prohibit health care providers from referring patients for safe, legal abortion care and deny patients access to the information and medical care they need.

Patients deserve accurate information about their health care, and it is unethical to force doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals to withhold information and referrals for abortion care. Under this rule, a provider will be prohibited from telling a woman where she can obtain safe abortion care—even if she needs to access such care to preserve her health.

NAF, along with 100 public health organizations have come out to oppose a gag policy. This rolling back of reproductive rights is clearly not in line with the views of the majority of Americans, and it will not go unchallenged.
