Help keep choice a reality.
The support of individuals who are deeply committed to reproductive choice is essential to our ability to help our members keep their doors open to serve women. Gifts to NAF, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, are tax-deductible in the U.S. to the extent permitted by law. NAF has a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, is ranked in the top five of high-impact nonprofits by Philanthropedia, and is a fully accredited charity of the BBB Wise Giving Alliance. You can access our most recent IRS Form 990 here.
We need your help to support our members, their patients, and women who will choose abortion in the future. Make a gift now to enable NAF to carry out our important work, or pledge future support with a planned gift. Gifts to NAF are tax deductible in the U.S. to the extent permitted by law.
Some ways to give to NAF:
To donate by mail, please print, fill out, and mail the donation form to:
National Abortion Federation

All gifts to NAF are tax-deductible in the U.S. to the extent permitted by law.
NAF welcomes gifts of stocks and securities, which may also have tax advantages for you in the U.S. Here is a quick guide to ensure the successful transfer of your unrestricted, publicly traded securities.
If the stock is held in a brokerage account:
- For transfer instructions, please instruct your broker or bank to call NAF’s Development Department at 202-667-5881.
- Ask your broker to include your name and the phrase “For the benefit of NAF” in the transfer instructions.
- Please notify NAF of your gift by faxing a copy of the transfer instructions to NAF’s Development Department at 202-667-5890.
If you physically hold the shares:
- Mail or hand deliver the certificates to NAF, with a letter stating the purpose of your gift (for example, “for general support of NAF programs.”)
- In a separate envelope, mail or deliver a signed stock power form for each gift.
Mail or deliver these items to:
NAF Development Department

The most common way to provide a planned gift to help ensure NAF’s future vitality and effectiveness is to include NAF in your will through a bequest. Other ways to help NAF plan for the future are to name NAF as the beneficiary of your retirement fund or your existing or new life insurance policy, or through life income gifts.
Your attorney can easily revise your will or add an amendment to your existing will to include NAF. The language to accomplish your purpose may be a simple as: “I give the sum of $_____ (or____% of the value of my estate) to the National Abortion Federation, now or formerly at 1090 Vermont Avenue, NW, Suite 1000, Washington, DC 20005.”
As your attorney will advise, you may arrange a gift of a specific amount, a percentage, or a portion of the residual of your estate; or you may bequeath real estate or personal property to NAF. Please let us know if you have included NAF in your will to help us plan for the future.
Life Insurance and Retirement Plans
There are various methods by which a life insurance policy may be contributed to NAF. A donor may:
- assign irrevocably a paid up policy to the National Abortion Federation;
- assign irrevocably a life insurance policy on which premiums remain to be paid by the donor; or
- name the National Abortion Federation as a primary or successor beneficiary of the proceeds.
On the beneficiary section or form, give NAF’s legal name (National Abortion Federation), address (1090 Vermont Avenue, NW, Suite 1000, Washington, DC 20005) and NAF’s Employer Identification Number (43-1097957).
You may also designate NAF as a beneficiary of your retirement plan.
Charitable Remainder Trust
A Charitable Remainder Trust is a separately administered irrevocable trust established by the donor. It provides for immediate tax benefits in the U.S. as well as payments to you and/or other named beneficiary(ies) either for life or a term of years (not to exceed twenty), whereupon the remaining trust assets are distributed to NAF.
Charitable Lead Trust
A Charitable Lead Trust is a trust in which the income, or “lead” interest, is paid to NAF, and the “remainder” interest is given to one or more non-charitable beneficiaries, who could be either the donor or family members. The amount paid to NAF may be either a fixed sum (an “annuity trust” interest) or a percentage of trust assets as valued each year (a “unitrust” interest).
Charitable Gift Annuity
The Charitable Gift Annuity is a contract between the institution and the donor. The institution agrees to pay the donor (or other person named by the donor) a lifetime annuity in return for a gift of cash, securities, or other property. The annual payment is a fixed sum, the amount of which is based on the size of the gift and the number and ages of the beneficiaries.
You may establish an endowed fund in your name or in honor of someone else with an outright or planned gift of $25,000 or more. The income from the endowed funds provides annual income in perpetuity. The income will be used by NAF where the need is greatest, unless the donor chooses to work with NAF to develop a named program fund.
You may transfer the title of a personal residence to NAF. The donor or another person will retain use of the property for a term of years or for the life of the donor and/or another person. Generally, the donor shall continue to be responsible for real-estate taxes, insurance, utilities, and maintenance after transferring title of the property to NAF.
Please consult either your financial or legal advisor to help you arrange a planned gift that may provide advantages to you or your family, in addition to supporting the work of the National Abortion Federation. NAF would be happy to provide a copy of our planned giving policies and guidelines upon request.
Planned giving benefits and arrangements in Canada will differ.
Some ways to give to NAF:
Renew Your Annual Support or Make a First Time Gift to NAF
Annual NAF donors help us carry out our mission to ensure safe, legal, and accessible abortion care to promote health and justice for women. Your gift will immediately be put to work where the need is greatest. You may make a secure online credit card donation, print a gift form and mail it to NAF or call NAF to make a gift over the phone.
Your monthly support will give us a reliable source of funds for critical new needs as they arise. These gifts are made by electronic funds transfer or automatic credit card deductions. Instructions are on the gift form.
Many employers will match your gift, or your spouse’s contribution to NAF (or even double or triple it) through workplace giving programs. Ask your human resources department for a matching gift form and send it to us.
Memorials and Tributes
You may make a gift to honor someone special who has touched your life or has made meaningful contributions to the pro-choice movement. We will send an acknowledgment card to the honoree or the family to let them know about your tribute. A space is provided for your memorial gift on our form.

The NAF Hotline is the only toll-free source of personalized support and unbiased, factual information about abortion in the U.S. and Canada. We receive over 3,000 calls a month in English, Spanish, and French from women, their partners, families and friends. The Hotline offers information about pregnancy and abortion; confidential, non-judgmental support; referrals to quality abortion providers; referrals to funding sources; help in understanding state abortion restrictions; and case management for women in difficult situations.
NAF Rachel Falls Patient Assistance Fund
Every day we hear from women who lack the resources to pay for an abortion. Donations to our NAF Rachel Falls Patient Assistance Fund allow us to provide financial assistance when it is urgently needed, or when women need specialized medical attention. In addition, NAF members often reduce their fees or provide free services. Learn more »
Security and Clinic Defense
NAF’s security experts are available to our members 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency support. When a crisis occurs, we send emergency response teams to clinic sites to provide immediate, on-the-ground assistance. We perform security assessments at the clinics and homes of our members, and train clinic staff in practical, day-to-day procedures that could save their lives. We also meet with key law enforcement officials to educate them about the security needs of our members, and urge them to investigate and prosecute anti-choice criminal activities. Learn more »
Access to abortion services is limited by a shortage of qualified abortion providers. Meanwhile, there are significant gaps in abortion training opportunities for medical students, residents, and advanced practice clinicians. We facilitate training partnerships between our clinics and residency training programs to provide “hands-on” abortion training and develop training curricula and other clinical materials for health care providers. Our Clinicians in Abortion Care program continues to grow and currently represents nearly 6,000 advanced practice clinicians who advocate for choice. Learn more »
NAF’s Patient Partnership collects the real-life stories of women who have had abortions and are willing to share their experiences with the media, pro-choice advocates, and legislators. When the public is inundated with anti-choice rhetoric, we work with members of our Patient Partnership to ensure that their voices are also heard. They put a compelling human face on abortion and portray the adverse consequences of anti-choice policies. More
NAF provides the medical and clinical response to the misinformation and unfounded claims that are spread by anti-choice advocates working to obstruct access to abortion care, and to undermineRoe v. Wade. Because our membership includes the leading experts in the field of abortion, we develop authoritative, research-based medical information about abortion issues, and distribute it widely to the public, the media, pro-choice advocates, and legislators. We also meet with and send educational information to key reporters and editors who work on abortion stories, and contact them when we discover bias or inaccuracy. Learn more »
As the leader in providing abortion training to health care professionals in North America, NAF is now also working in partnership with international health organizations to conduct in-country abortion training for physicians and nurses in selected countries where abortion is legal. Individuals can help us expand this work with gifts that will allow us to increase our ability to communicate regularly with international providers, and provide them with educational resources and support.
