Health Care Repeal: Devastating consequences for millions of women and families
Statement of Vicki Saporta, President and CEO of the National Abortion Federation (NAF):
If the latest version of the health care repeal bill passes, it would have devastating consequences for millions of women and families, who would lose access to necessary health care coverage.
Even the “slimmed-down” version being considered by the Senate tonight would “defund” Planned Parenthood. As the professional association of abortion providers, we are proud to stand with Planned Parenthood. Our members include Planned Parenthood affiliates across the country, which play a critical role in providing primary and preventative care to millions of people who would otherwise not be able to access the care they need. One in five women has visited a Planned Parenthood health center for care in her lifetime, and many rely on Planned Parenthood as their primary health care provider.
The current “defunding” effort is the latest in a long, misguided campaign against Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers. We urge the Senate to reject any version of Trumpcare, and abandon further attempts to jeopardize the lives and health of millions of people.
