Kensington Clinic Receives Standard of Excellence Award
This year, the National Abortion Federation (NAF) awarded the George R. Tiller “Attitude is Everything” Standard of Excellence Award to Kensington Clinic in Calgary, Alberta.
The Standard of Excellence Award was established in 2009 to honor the memory of NAF member Dr. George Tiller, a dedicated physician and abortion provider who was murdered on May 31, 2009, by an anti-abortion extremist in Wichita, Kansas. Each year, this award is given to one NAF member facility that emulates Dr. Tiller’s excellent and compassionate patient care, positive attitude, and staff cohesiveness.
“We at NAF continue to be impressed by the dedication and commitment of the entire staff at Kensington Clinic, and the consistently exceptional patient care they provide,” said NAF President and CEO Vicki Saporta. “They serve as an inspiration to other providers throughout Canada and North America.”
Like Dr. Tiller, the Kensington staff is incredibly generous and go above and beyond for patients to ensure they can access the abortion care they need.
In addition to providing the highest quality patient care, the Kensington Clinic is also an important training center for medical students, social workers, nurses, and physicians from all over Canada. In fact, many of the physicians currently providing abortion care in Northern Canada today have trained at the Kensington Clinic.
“We are very honoured and humbled to have been selected to receive this award,” said Kensington Clinic Executive Director Celia Posyniak. “Our clinic has worked hard to provide excellent abortion care to the women of southern Alberta over the past 23 years and we are grateful for the support we have received from the community, our colleagues, and Alberta Health Services.”
