Presidential Women’s Center Receives Standard of Excellence Award

This year, the National Abortion Federation (NAF) awarded the George R. Tiller “Attitude is Everything” Standard of Excellence Award to Presidential Women’s Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The Standard of Excellence Award was established in 2009 to honor the memory of NAF member Dr. George Tiller, a dedicated physician and abortion provider who was murdered on May 31, 2009, by an anti-abortion extremist in Wichita, Kansas. This award is given to a NAF member facility that emulates Dr. Tiller’s excellent and compassionate patient care, positive attitude, and staff cohesiveness.
“We continue to be impressed by the commitment of the entire staff at Presidential Women’s Center, their state-of-the-art facility, and the consistently exceptional patient care that they provide,” said NAF President and CEO Vicki Saporta.
For more than 30 years, Presidential founder and director Mona Reis and her staff have provided high-quality, compassionate care to women in Florida, despite facing harassment and violence. They have endured anthrax threats, bomb threats, glued doors, aggressive protesting that led to years of litigation, and a major arson, which caused serious damage and forced the clinic to close for a period of time.
“The staff’s ability to overcome these attacks and restore their facility after the arson is a testament to the staff’s incredible dedication to their patients,” Saporta said. “We often hear stories from women about the excellent, compassionate care they have received at Presidential Women’s Center.”
The Center’s philosophy is patient-oriented, proactive, and to serve as patient advocates.
“We are so honored and humbled to have been selected to receive this award,” Reis said. “We take pride in our excellent reputation for patient-centered care within our community, the state of Florida, and the country.”
In addition to providing the highest quality patient care, the staff of Presidential Women’s Center has advocated for patients by successfully challenging laws that would restrict abortion care in Florida. Presidential Women’s Center is a longstanding member of the West Palm Beach community and has been a member of NAF since 1980.
