Senate must filibuster

Statement of Vicki Saporta, President and CEO of the National Abortion Federation (NAF) on Judge Neil Gorsuch’s Senate Confirmation Hearing:

During this week’s confirmation hearings, Neil Gorsuch evaded basic questions about protecting women’s reproductive rights, and did nothing to assuage our fears that, if confirmed, he would vote to considerably weaken or even overturn Roe v. Wade. Although he deflected questions about Roe and the legal right to abortion, Gorsuch’s record of hostility to reproductive freedom speaks loudly about his views and the way he would rule on our nation’s highest court.

A Supreme Court seat is a lifetime appointment and comes with enormous power and influence. The impact of the Supreme Court on abortion access goes far beyond Roe v. Wade. If Judge Gorsuch is confirmed, there could be grave consequences for women’s lives and health for decades to come.

It’s not enough to vote “no” on Gorsuch, Senators must filibuster and defeat this dangerous nominee.
