Wednesday’s Words from Women
July 18, 2012
I am a 35-year-old female with seven children. Since I discovered that I was pregnant I have been sick and bedridden. I only receive a modest monthly income and if it wasn’t for the assistance and support from NAF, I don’t know what I would have done.

It all began with a phone call to the NAF hotline. Being 40 and getting pregnant on birth control, I knew that termination was the best option for me. I was treated with respect by the person who answered the phone, and we spent 45 minutes talking, navigating thru the website, and also finding a provider that was in my area. I was referred to a highly respected provider and NAF member in the Philadelphia area. I must admit I was scared and I did not know what to expect. I can tell you that the doctor performed the procedure with a gentle and caring nature and the women in the office have the biggest hearts and are so personable and caring. I am glad that I chose this clinic for my procedure. I am now two days post procedure and I am returning to work tomorrow. I feel relieved; I know in my heart that the decision I made was the hardest decision. However, sometimes in life the hardest decisions are the right decisions. I would like to recommend that anyone who is searching for a provider should PLEASE call the NAF Hotline.

Over one-third of women of reproductive age have an abortion by the age of 45. However, women who have chosen abortion are often absent from the public debate. In order to break the silence surrounding abortion, we feature real stories from real women each Wednesday on our blog. If you would like to share your story with us or have it published on our blog, go to http://www.prochoice.org/pregnant/hotline/share.html.
